Ninja Division designed some alternate rules for the Nether Elves which ultimately never got released. I decided to make my own proxy version of the desert elves inspired by one of my favourite movies; The Mummy.

The flesh-eating scarabs from the movie replace the original desert spiders. These were sourced from Greenstuff World. There are two types of scarabs, the flying ones which are elites and the crawling ones which are minions. I built up flying swarms with greenstuff and covered it in sand to represent a desert whirlwind. The scarabs are painted with P3 inks which mimic the iridescence of an oil slick in different lights. It comes pretty close to the effect I was after.

The spawning point was made with greenstuff crystals, which I now regret. Next time I will use 3D printed crystals which will be easier and look better. The nest also uses the eggs that came with the Greenstuff World beetles. I used Nurgle’s Rot technical paint to get a gross slime effect. The proxy for the priestess which I’ve named Keeper of the Dead comes from Capsule Chibi’s Anubis-chan. She has a minor conversion where I rotated her waving hand and added a bug. Because the beetles were very brittle and fragile, I added greenstuff to the Keeper’s scarab to support it and hopefully prevent breakages.

I also redesigned the cards to fit the new models. These proxies use the exact same rules as the original desert elves. These are for personal use only, original copyright holder for Super Dungeon is Ninja Division.

I have plans to proxy the other desert models, but it won’t be anytime soon as my projects list is long.
