When I was painting the Dragon Blade I noticed that he had a tendency to topple backwards due to his heavy, billowing cloak. I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to make a video to show you how I counterweight models so that they don’t fall over and chip their paint.

In my latest video, I demonstrate the layering technique. Layering is a highlighting technique which involves manually painting lighter colours over a darker basecoat, leaving the dark colour in the recesses. It results in a smoother finish than drybrushing, so is better for surfaces such as skin and cloth.
