Shallow Graves

Here are the Shallow Grave spawn points from which the skeletons can ambush unsuspecting heroes. Like the rest of my Super Dungeon Explore stuff, I am trying to keep them quick and simple.

Also, I have some good news: I’m finally investing in a proper camera. All this time I have been using my smartphone,  so hopefully we’ll see a significant improvement in picture quality. *fingers crossed!*

Bone Heads, Dread Knights and Rattlebones

I’ve started painting up the Von Drakk set. I wanted the skeletons to look very old with rusted armour and rough bone so I mostly drybrushed them. This had the added benefit of making them super fast to paint! Here are the Bone Heads.

Bone Head

I base-coated the armour with dark brown and then stippled on a lighter redder brown. Finally I finished them up with a quick drybrush of silver. Here are the Dread Knights.

Dread Knight

To paint the bone I simply base-coated with bone, washed with brown and then drybrushed with bone. Using fast painting techniques really helps when you have twelve Rattlebone creeps.

Nyan-Nyan

Nyan-Nyan was actually my first attempt at a chibi face. I wasn’t happy with the eyes and, after talking it over with some of the guys on the Soda Pop forums, I decided to repaint her eyes and give her a kitty nose.

Nyan-Nyan

I wanted my Freyjans (the cat people) to be more cat-like than their original colour schemes. I think that the nose really helps with that. Now she’s super cute!

I realise now how important the eyes are for chibi-style miniatures. Even more so than regular minis!

Thundervale Huntress, Questing Knight and Survivor Marie-Claude

It’s time for some heroes! Lets start with the Thundervale Huntress.

Thundervale Huntress

I tried to match her markings to the artwork in the book instead of her card.

And here’s the Questing Knight in an alternative colour scheme.

Finally here’s Survivor Marie-Claude. I thought her sculpted eyes were a little too large (even for the chibi style) so I tried to offset that by giving her a slighter thicker outline around the eye than I usually do. Meaning I left the black line around the whites of her eyes within the sculpted edge. I’ll do a little guide on this later. I like how her eyes and stocking turned out.

Survivor Marie Claude

If you were wondering about Marie-Claude’s sculpt, it’s based on Marie-Claude Bourbonnais, a cosplayer associated with Soda Pop Miniatures.
